Autism Spectrum Disorders group
LĮŠC’s Autism Spectrum Disorders group performs the following functions:
- Provides informational, expert, consultative, methodological assistance to educators, parents (guardians, caregivers), educational support specialists, educational support specialists of pedagogical psychological services and regional special education centres on issues of inclusive education of children with autism spectrum disorders;
- Analyzes and systematizes information about innovations in inclusive education of children with autism spectrum disorders in Lithuania and other countries, tests them, adapts them and organizes their dissemination in the country’s schools;
- Initiates the preparation of methodologies and instruments for learning disorders for the pupil, the implementation of educational innovations and good practices, and the provision of methodological assistance to the employees of educational institutions;\
- Participates in the quality assurance processes of the teachers’ qualification improvement system, in the preparation and implementation of competency improvement measures, programmes, projects, initiates innovations in this field;
- Prepares methodological recommendations for the provision of educational assistance to children with autism spectrum disorders;
- Provides short-term targeted educational and other assistance and consults children with autism spectrum disorders and their parents (guardians, caregivers), pedagogical staff, pupil assistants;
- Implements advanced practices of providing educational support and inclusive education in schools based on the best practices of foreign countries for working with children with autism spectrum disorders;
- Participates in the preparation of the provision of educational aid, draft legal acts regulating the education of a child with SUP, submits proposals and comments;
- Represents in international organizations, participates in the activities of international organizations, collects and shares information about advanced innovations in inclusion in education implemented worldwide and their application practices.
