Educational Support Development group
LĮŠC’s Educational Support Development group performs the following functions:
- Provides methodological assistance to pedagogical psychological services (hereinafter referred to as services) and regional special education centers (hereinafter referred to as regional centers); carries out supervisions of services and regional centers, educational assistance specialists and advises them on the objective identification of special educational needs (hereinafter – SUP), assessment of complex developmental disorders;
- Advises the heads of educational assistance institutions, specialists, educators, parents (guardians, caregivers) on the provision of educational assistance, pedagogical psychological assessment of the child, education, increase of inclusion in education, use of special teaching aids;
- Implements advanced educational assistance and inclusive education practices based on the good practices of foreign countries in schools, services and regional centers;
- Initiates and carries out the improvement of the professional competencies of specialists providing educational assistance to services, regional centers and other educational institutions;
- Participates in the processes of ensuring the quality of the teacher’s professional development system, prepares and implements competence improvement measures, programs, projects, initiates innovations in this field;
- Collects and systematizes information and provides methodological assistance on issues of SUP, assessment, education, provision of educational assistance, use of special teaching aids for working with students with SUP; analyzes and systematizes information about innovations in inclusive education of children in Lithuania and other countries, tests them, adapts them and organizes their dissemination in the country’s schools;
- Participates in the preparation of the provision of educational assistance, draft legal acts regulating the education of a child with SUP, submits suggestions and comments;
- Prepares recommendations on the adaptation of educational programs, preparation of individual education plans, selection and application of educational methods to work with children with SUP; recommendations for the application of the principle of universal design for learning in schools, methodological materials on the adaptation of the physical, informational environment of schools, the organization of education to students with various educational needs, organizes their dissemination;
- Coordinates the education of parents (guardians, caregivers) on the issues of inclusive education of children with various educational needs;
- Represents in international organizations, participates in the activities of international organizations, collects and shares information about the advanced innovations of inclusion in education and practices in their application implemented around the world.
